In a recent interview with Ele-King , Frusciante offered up some exciting news on the band's forthcoming music, exulting in his reunion and asserting his intention to dabble in electronic music.

I came back to the band because I knew that I could continue to play electronic music, and I have the leeway to get along," he said. With a forthcoming album called MAYA on the horizon, which is named after his cat who passed away due to cancer last year, Frusciante is preparing to go full throttle in both rock and electronic music in the near future.

In , he issued a self-titled album under his acid techno alias Trickfinger, which had previously released a free online EP in Trickfinger II, consisting of six tracks recorded in and never intended for release, appeared in At the very end of , the Chili Peppers announced that Klinghoffer had left the band and Frusciante would once again be returning as the band's guitarist.
