Sd or cf what is better

On technical level, there're mechanisms that prevent easily data lost built in to the card. The SD has none. The risk if bent pins was a bad design decision. I have seen pins bent as someone was carless putting it into a card reader. Not sure it matters when shopping for a camera. I buy equipment based on the photo taking features not which card format they use. That happened to me twice when using card readers on trips.

I started taking a backup card reader. Two days ago, a member of local group asked how to move the sd card from the camera because the write-protect piece get loose and the card is struck.

Many advices, all failed. The camera shop could not help too. Knew very little about photography when I decided to buy the awesome Nikon D70; learned quickly that this expensive camera didn't make me a good photographer.

I probably own SD cards. At least 7 of them have had that stupid flimsy lock thing either break off or stop working. Yes, there is a fix for this but it's a pain in the butt merely putting tape over it doesn't work for my camera, you have to put a tiny piece of plastic in to fill the gap.

Also, I've never had a CF card fail. I've had 2 SD cards fail. Anecdotal, I know, but it's my "truth" haha! Size of CF is a big advantage to me.

I can't stand handling those tiny SD cards. As far as bent pins, I've probably read at least as many accounts of SD cards being damaged as I have bent pins.

Not one bent pin. Same here. I blame poorly made card readers. I have found a few that have too shallow an aperture before contact is made with the pins.

Easy to put in at the wrong angle. Lexar card readers for instance are excellent. For example, Nikon's new D uses SD cards of various types. CF cards will be phased out for new designs in a few years, IMO. I'm sure they are more tough, but they also cost x as much, so it's probably a wash. Lately, I have had the little plastic guides around the contacts on the SD card start seperating and then I don't dare insert the card in my camera any more.

Anecdotally, we used to get a bent pins threads a year on the Canon Forums back when everything had CF slots.

And if you bend your pins in the camera's card slot, you are pretty hosed. That can't happen with SD cards! Examine each SD card every time before inserting it. If there is anything starting to seem abnormal, it's time to never plug it into a camera or computer.

SD cards are very easy to examine and wipe clean compared to CF cards. But it's still easy to push dirt into a camera SD slot so it's got to be kept clean. CF cards slots are worse. Wish they didn't fail, but they do.

To be honest, we're getting to the point of binning all the production CFs after each summer season as they start to develop issues. One of the things that I hate, and I don't know why they do this, but it's always towards the end of their life, the card download ceases to be sequential.

Is it worth the hefty price tag? We take a look at the Cine, the high-end model in this series. The Nikon Z9 is the company's first camera to feature a stacked CMOS sensor, which brings a raft of new features, including blazing speed and autofocus performance to the Z lineup. Free Download.
