Slender game why is it scary

Long story short, this is one of the scariest games of all time, but features little violence, which means if you have a kid that is able to handle large amounts of psychological dread and fear, I would let them have a chance with it.

I would not give this game to any individual under the age of The perspective is from a camera the player is holding, and glitches unnervingly when Slenderman is near The game does not have a happy ending. None of the characters survive, except one, who has to live on being a proxy to Slenderman.

Teen, 16 years old Written by DavidHi April 16, Fantastically terrifying, but definitely doesn't deserve the "no kids" rating I will admit, this game is terrifying. I had to shut off the game several times just to regain some sanity There isn't a single act of violence portrayed in the entire game unless you consider getting pounced on by an unknown entity violent nor a single instance of profanity.

The only thing that makes this not good for younger kids is that it is very scary. Nothing to be concerned about though for any teenager. The game is fantastic though, and I would highly recommend it! Had useful details. Kid, 9 years old July 1, Not good but not over the top there's almost no Action or violence but it's no good.

There is also frequent horror in the form of loud and sudden appearances of these supernatural beings, mainly being from the titular "Slender-Man" character who is a tall and faceless man-like creature. These intense horror elements, albeit constant throughout the gameplay, do not dwell on explicit violence or graphic distressing imagery, with the player's death never shown on screen, and so is suitable for teenagers.

There is also a disturbing image towards the end of the game of a burnt and bloodied corpse, although this is not overtly graphic or detailed. I would not recommend it for children who are easily emotionally moved by games. The game doesn't really have anything inappropriate about it. Some people here say Slenderman kills you, but when Slenderman shows up, if you look at him, your screen starts going fuzzy at a faster rate depending on how close he is to you and you eventually lose if your screen reaches full static.

He is not supposed to kill you in this, the idea is that he drives you insane and the level of static is an indication of how "insane" you are. The silence matches perfectly with Slenderman's defining attribute—he has no face.

And that, I believe, is the single scariest thing about him. Not his oblong proportions, or propensity for turning up in the margins of your family portraits. It's the fact that he has no face. He is unknowable, and therefore there is no pleading with him, no bargaining. He is here for you, and that's all there is to it. Not only is it easy to fear the Slenderman, it's easy to make him—photoshopping or drawing a guy with no face is a piece of cake, relatively speaking, and so images of Slenderman are much more consistently scary than many other characters.

I've played through Slender which now goes under the full name Slender: The Eight Pages a few times now, and I'm fascinated by how it manages to be so effectively scary.

Reminder: You, too, can play the game for free right now. Go on, be brave. Much has been made about the important role imagination plays in horror. A player's imagination will always be more powerful than even the most impressive, high-resolution graphics.

That's doubly true in horror games-it's what we don't see that truly frightens us. Slender is simple, even crude, and yet it's so consistently scary. That's mainly because it's surgically precise in how it inspires them. It's a simple game, broken down into a few simple elements:. That's about it. And yet each of those elements exists solely to make the game scarier.

You can't fight back, you can only run. The notes, scrawled in pencil, drip with portent: "Don't look… or it takes you. Slender is scarier than Dead Space.
